What Does The Tommee Tippee Dreammaker Do?

The Tommee Tippee Dreammaker is a baby sleep aid. It helps promote and support deep sleep in two main ways: via gentle red light and via sound. It helps to provide a calming, soothing environment free from the stimulation that would otherwise keep your baby awake.

How Do You Use A Tommee Tippee Dreammaker?

To use a Tommee Tippee Dreammaker you simply need to connect the device to a compatible adapter plug (using the lead as provided), plug it in, and turn the device on by double-tapping the inner circle on the top of the Dreammaker device.

From there, you can turn on/alter the light, sound, and pulse functionality via the buttons found at the bottom of the device.

To turn off the Dreammaker, all you need to do is double-tap the inner circle on the top of the device again.

Alternatively, you could always switch the socket off at the wall or unplug the USB lead.

Why Did I Buy The Tommee Tippee Dreammaker?

I bought the Tommee Tippe Dreammaker to help my newborn settle and sleep, something we found to be extremely difficult in the first few nights following birth.

We bought the Dreammaker for three main reasons:

  1. Provide a gentle light that let us see our baby (particularly during feeding/middle of the night during nappy changes) but did not interfere with our (or our baby’s sleep).
  2. Provide white noise for our baby, which we discovered is soothing for them and mimics the sounds they are used to in the womb.
  3. Develop our babies’ circadian rhythm and try to implement a sleep routine.

Below, you will find some pictures I took of the device, both in the box, unboxed, and while being used:

What I Like About The Tommee Tippee Dreammaker

Calm, Subtle Lighting

Despite being sufficiently bright, the red light is calm, subtle and creates a wonderfully relaxed ambiance.

You can set the lighting to constant, or an intermittent beam via the pulse setting.

Both have their practical uses and are nice to alternate between, depending on whether you are seeking a constant night light or a sleep-enducing atmosphere.

Small and Lightweight

The device is small and light, making it easy to place in your bedroom in a variety of different place.

Whether you place it on a sidetable, on the bedframe, or even on the floor.

Multi-Functional

The device pairs both ambient lighting to a white noise, which you can use simultaneously or one or the other.

The noise mimics the sound of natural noises, helping soothe your baby and keeping them comforted.

It helps promote not only a deeper state of sleep, but helps them achieve it faster, too.

The red light helps to ensure efficient melatonin secretion, and proper wake/sleep cycles. Not just for you, but for your baby too.

So if you need to feed in the night, or change your baby, then you/they won’t be disturbed – and you can see what you are doing!

You should find your baby falls back to sleep much faster than if you were to use the bedroom light!

Suitable For All Ages

The Dreammaker can be used from the first night you bring your baby home (1 day old onward) and can be used indefinitely.

In fact, there is no reason why you could not move the light to your nursery and let your baby use it up until they are 3-5 years of age.

Or, you could even keep it in the bedroom for yourself if you become accustomed to it!

Scientifically Developed/Supported

I love the fact that the Tommee Tippee Dreammaker was developed by sleep scientists at Northumbria University.

A lot of devices on the market make unsubstantiated claims, whereas this is a device that is supported and backed by science.

Price

The cost of the device is competitively priced.

If you take into account all of the features too, it becomes even more cost-effective (for instance, night lights and white noise machines typically retail for around the $30-$50, each).

It’s also reasonable to run, too. And as it doesn’t require batteries, means you can keep the running costs down.

Ease of Use

Its a simple plug in and double-tap (to turn on/off) device.

From there if you want to change any of the settings you just use the panel on the bottom of the device.

There is no complicated setup. You can use it right out of the box.

Would I Recommend The Tommee Tippee Dreammaker?

I would strongly recommend the Tommee Tippee Dreammaker to any new parents who want to promote deep, restful sleep with their newborn while being able to feed/change their baby with the least amount of disruption as possible.

I can’t fault the device for the price, and I love how easy it is to use and turn on/off.

In fact, you can leave it on all night which is what my partner and I tend to do.

We found that the Dreammaker was particularly effective for soothing our newborn; who just wouldn’t sleep (especially on his back) before we introduced this device.

Since using it, we have found that our baby falls asleep faster, stays asleep for longer, and has less frequent awakenings during the night.

Added to the fact that it does not disturb our sleep as much either.

We actually enjoyed the lighting/noises ourselves, and find that it has reduced our own anxiety from negative thoughts or our babies abrupt awakenings.

It’s a subtle light, that allows you to see just enough, without being overpowering and taking over the room.

I would strongly recommend the Tommee Tippee Dreammaker to any new parents.

And i would purchase it from Amazon, where you can benefit from the swift delivery, a 30 day returns policy, and typically the best price:
