Mamas And Papas Atlas Cot Bed Review [From Soon-To-Be Parents]

Are you in the market for a cot or cot bed for your newborn or soon-to-be new arrival? Then chances are you’ve come across Mamas and Papas. More specifically, you have your eye on the Atlas Cot Bed.

Besides, they are a leading brand in the baby equipment and furniture space.
So it’s no real surprise that you’ve come across them.

But should you trust and invest in their furniture?

Either the cot by itself?

Or the entire bundle that includes the drawers and wardrobe, too?

Well, regardless of what you are after and your budget, you’ll be pleased you stopped by.

With our little one on the way (I’m 38 weeks and full-term), we decided to purchase the Atlas Cot Bed.

I’d like to share my experiences with you since our initial purchase and help you to work out if this is the right cot/cot bed for you and your little one.

Quick Verdict

If you are looking for a high-quality, visually appealing, and easy-to-assemble cot that easily transforms into a bed, then I would strongly recommend the Mamas and Papas Atlas Cot bed.

We have been thoroughly impressed by the build quality, stability, design, and dimensions.

It looks fantastic and is a key piece of furniture that you can truly trust in.

What Did We Buy From Mamas And Papas?

We purchased the Atlas 3 piece cot bed range in nimbus white. This included the cot bed, dresser and wardrobe. We also purchased the premium dual core cot bed mattress separately too.

This essentially provided us with everything we needed for our nursery, minus a nursing chair.

You can see the assembled cot bed and dresser in our nursery below:

What Comes Included With The Mamas And Papas Atlas Cot Bed?

If you are purchasing just the Mamas and Papas Atlas Cot Bed on its own, then you will get everything you need for this one piece of furniture. You get all the parts/screws included.

However, do consider that you will need to purchase a mattress separately. The mattress does not come included.

While you could technically purchase a mattress elsewhere, I would suggest you opt for the best one you can afford through Mamas and Papas.

That will ensure you get a high-quality, breathable, and baby-safe mattress that has the right shape/dimensions too.

Thankfully they offer three different mattresses at different price points:

  • Essential pocket spring,
  •  Premium pocket spring,
  •  Luxury twin spring.

So you will be able to get one that you can afford.

Our Experience With The Mamas And Papas Atlas Cot Bed

We have been incredibly impressed with the Mamas and Papas Atlas Cot Bed. From initial purchase all the way through to installation.

Order Duration

We purchased the Atlas Cot Bed bundle and had the full set delivered at the same time via Evri.

It took around 30 days for the furniture to be with us after the order.

We received several emails throughout the process, providing us with an update on our order and the stage that it was currently in.

Delivery

Our bundle was delivered ruing our allocated time slot as scheduled by Evri (formally Hermes).

We had six boxes in total (two for each piece of furniture).

Thus, if you opt for just the cot bed, expect two flat-packed boxes to arrive.

They were quite heavy, and my husband had to carry them upstairs

He could manage this on his own but bear this in mind as you may need to get somebody to help, too, depending on your circumstances.

Appearance/Quality

We are immensely impressed by the appearance of the Atlas furniture and its general quality.

Unlike a lot of other furniture, there is little to no MDF (or other cheap wood).

It’s solid, sturdy, and feels very durable.

The finish on the wood is also smooth and just looks fantastic.

Assembly

My husband was very happy with how the assembly went.

He is not a DIY expert by any stretch of the imagination (and has barely put any furniture together in his life).

It took him about 45 minutes from start to finish to erect the cot bed (from getting all of the pieces out of the box to having the cot bed positioned and in place in our nursery.

He advised me that the instruction manual was clear, concise, and easy to follow.

There were around 13 steps to complete the bed from start to finish, plus some further steps that you can follow when it is time to transition the bed from a cot to a bed (for a toddler. )

Consider you will need a screwdriver to put the furniture together, though it requires a screwdriver of a standard size and is likely one that you have lying around the house.

No other tools are required.

Safety

This is a really secure, sturdy, and safe cot bed.

It is weighty and carefully designed. There are no sharp edges or any other potentially hazardous or harmful parts that could injure your newborn/baby or toddler.

Dimensions

The Mamas and Papas Atlas Cot Bed measures 96 cm (in height, 78 cm in width, and 144 cm in length).

It is, therefore, a great size, providing sufficient space without being too dominating for your nursery or overly large.

I also love the fact that it has three adjustable base heights, making it effortless to pick your baby up/put your baby down for a nap without waking them up!

How Long Can You Use The Mamas And Papas Atlas Cot Bed For?

You can use the Mamas and Papas Atlas Cot Bed from birth until they are four years of age.

What is great about this is that you can help your little one transition from a cot to a regular bed (they essentially have a smaller in-between bed to get used to the change)

Do consider that you will need to make a few changes to adapt the cot bed to a toddler bed when the time comes.

The instructions provided in the packaging explain exactly what you need to do. It looks pretty straightforward to do.

Note: you also get two extra wooden panels that you will need to store/use to transition the cot bed to the toddler bed. Equally, the side panels will need to be removed during the transition.

Is The Mamas And Papas Atlas Cot Bed Worth The Price?

The Mamas and Papas Atlas Cot Bed is absolutely worth the price if you can afford it. While it is true that it may be more expensive than other brands, in our experience, this really is a case of ‘you get what you pay for.’

For us, the extra expense has been entirely justified.

The durability, safety aspect, versatility, and all of the other benefits (such as easy assembly, how it looks, no issues with delivery/missing parts, etc.) have made us very satisfied customers indeed.

Let’s just say we just cannot wait for our new arrival to start using it.

In the meantime, well, it’s just got to look great in our newly finished nursery.

Final Verdict

If you are looking for a high-quality, visually appealing and easy-to-assemble cot that easily transforms in to a bed, then I would strongly recommend the Mamas and Papas Atlas Cot bed.

We have been thoroughly impressed by the build quality, stability, design and dimensions.
